The Hold Job feature allows dispatchers and drivers to temporarily pause active jobs when priorities change, without losing track of progress. This guide will walk you through how to place a job on hold by adding a high-priority job, monitor its status, and resume jobs when ready, all from both web and mobile platforms.
Note: To ensure full functionality of this feature, all users of the Titan GPS FieldDocs application must update to the latest version of the app.
Adding a High-Priority Job
Follow these steps to add a high-priority job to a driver's stop list while they are in "en-route" status. This is useful when dispatch receives an urgent job that must be completed before the driver’s currently assigned stops.
Locate and click on the vehicle/driver you would like to assign the high-priority job from the Asset List on the left-hand side of the TitanGPS web app.
From the Dispatching & Routing side-panel, click the hamburger icon.
A drop-down menu appears.
Click Add High Priority Job for Driver/Vehicle.
A pop-up appears asking you to confirm that you understand that the driver must acknowledge the high-priority job prior to its assignment, and the driver's current job will be put on hold until the high-priority job is completed.
Click Confirm to proceed to the next step of adding the high-priority job or Cancel to cancel this action.
If you've clicked Confirm in the previous step, the Job Details panel appears as Step 1 of 2.
Complete the fields in the panel (all fields marked with an * are required).
Note: If a form is required, confirm the driver has Forms permissions.
The Driver and Vehicle fields automatically populate and cannot be adjusted.
Click Next.
The Add Stops panel appears as Step 2 of 2.
Complete the fields in the panel (all fields marked with an * are required).
Click Add Stop and complete the fields if additional stops are needed.
Click Save & Dispatch.
The driver is sent a notification on the mobile app that a High-Priority Dispatch has been assigned.
Important: Ensure you adhere to distracted driving regulations in your region.
If the driver taps View Job, the high-priority job card opens. If the drive taps Close, the pop-up closes, and the high-priority job is accessible from the Dispatching tab.
For this document, we will continue this workflow assuming our driver tapped View Job.
After tapping View Job, the High-Priority Job Card displays the high-priority job details and notifies your driver that their previously assigned job is on hold.
To accept the high-priority job, the driver taps Acknowledge. To reject the high-priority job, the driver taps Reject.
If the driver rejects the job, the dispatcher is notified and can reassign the job to a different driver (See Re-assigning a High-Priority Job below).
For this document, we will continue this workflow assuming our driver tapped Acknowledge.
To begin the high-priority job, the driver taps Start to update the dashboard status for Dispatch to "en-route."
The driver will complete all stops in the high-priority job; this will update the dashboard as stops are completed. Once all stops are completed in the high-priority job, the high-priority job moves to the completed tab on the mobile.
Once the driver has completed the high-priority job, the on-hold job will be available to resume. The driver taps Resume to restart the on-hold job(s).
Re-Assigning a Rejected High-Priority Job
The Rejected High-Priority step in the Dispatch workflow enhances visibility and tracking when a high-priority job is offered to a driver who is already on a job but declines it due to timing, distance, or HOS constraints. Instead of losing the job, the system now enables the dispatcher to quickly reassign it to another driver without re-entering any job details.
If a driver taps Reject from the High-Priority Job Card, the driver's mobile app confirms the high-priority job was rejected and resumes the previous job.
An update displays to the Dispatch user's dashboard under Dispatching & Routing, showing the job's status as "Rejected".
Click the hamburger menu on the Rejected Job Card, then click Reassign High Priority Job.
Note: You can reassign from the Dispatched status and the Rejected status.
The Reassign High Priority Job panel appears.
Next to "Dispatch By:", click either Driver or Vehicle, then check the box next to the driver or vehicle you are assigning the high-priority job.
Note: You can only select one driver/vehicle at a time.
The newly assigned driver is sent the High-Priority Job and can accept or reject the job (see Steps #11-15 of Adding a High-Priority Job above).
